Design PhilosophyOur philosophy is humble and thoughtful. Some architects stand by a “minimalist” design philosophy while others force their individual “style” onto the land, regardless of the native landscape. We believe intense analysis of the land dictates a design style for each individual course we design. Some pieces of land produce the opportunity to move very little dirt as a result of their inherent natural beauty. More often today, new golf properties have less ‘God-given’ golf landscapes and therefore we take more liberty to create a vision. In either scenario, the existing landscape is always the foundation for our design. Even the simplest landscapes have unique features that may include a small mound, or an unexpected view that can be highlighted in a concept to create a unique golf experience. If a site calls for it, we are not afraid to move and shape the earth. We are also confident enough to sometimes leave it alone. The goal ultimately is to create the best golf experience possible. Every constraint is a design opportunity, and we utilize these opportunities to create memorable golf courses. Most of our courses are away from our Colorado home. Although we do specialize in mountainous golf design, we love to travel to different parts of the world to see potential golf properties. Our training is in landscape architecture, so accordingly, our team has a great respect and interest for unique terrain and land. Here are the top 10 places we want to work. - Sand hills region of Colorado and Nebraska
