Design Workshop’s Santa Fe office boosts staff with hiring of former summer intern

SANTA FE, N.M — Design Workshop’s is pleased to announce the hiring of Tawny Allen, a graduate of Boston College with a master’s degree in landscape architecture from the University of New Mexico (UNM). Allen participated in the firm’s summer internship last year.

Originally from Sun Valley, Idaho, Allen received a bachelor’s degree in international studies in 1999 before realizing her passion for landscape architecture. As a member of the master’s program at UNM, she participated in Design Workshop’s 2005 Summer Internship, which grappled with planning issues in South Lake Tahoe, California. She returned to school this past fall to complete her final semester and received her master’s degree in December. She started in the firm’s Santa Fe office February 6.

Founded in 1969, Design Workshop practices sustainable design and planning on sites ranging from urban infill, parks and open-space projects to brownfield redevelopment and resorts. The firm, which has been honored with more than 120 awards for design and planning, has offices in Aspen, Denver, Santa Fe, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, South Lake Tahoe and Asheville, N.C.
