Denver, CO – Beginning June 3 in Denver, the interns will participate in an intensive design charrette focused on Denver’s renowned retail shopping district—Cherry Creek North. The group will study the relationship of the district to its surrounding neighborhoods, including the Cherry Creek Mall. The charrette will be followed be a 10-week paid internship in one of Design Workshop’s seven U.S. offices.

As both undergraduate and graduate students, the interns come from a range of academic disciplines, including landscape architecture, architecture, business and planning. Their selection was based on a rigorous examination of resumes, the depth and creativity of portfolios, leadership experiences, and demonstrated commitment to the design process. “This will give a fresh perspective from 10 young and creative minds in envisioning an enhanced future for the Cherry Creek North shopping district,” said Design Workshop associate and internship director, Allyson Mendenhall. “Interns will consider the area’s identity, context and connections, as well as improvements to pedestrian and retail environments. We get the chance to teach and to learn from these students, exceptionally bright individuals who may be the future leaders of our profession.” The interns, their assigned Design Workshop office, degree and school are as follows:
