Denver, CO – Beginning June 3, Design Workshop will host an intensive design charrette to kick off it’s annual summer internship program. Ten top students from around the country will come together to focus on Denver’s renowned retail shopping district—Cherry Creek North. The charrette, titled “Cherry Creek North: Reconnecting and Transforming the District,” will be an opportunity for the interns to gain experience by collaborating with the Design Workshop team currently working on the identity of the area for the Cherry Creek North Business Improvement District.

Design Workshop was awarded the task of planning and urban design services for the Cherry Creek North Business Improvement District in January 2008. Since then it has been engaged in the re-envisioning process of the area including physical improvements to pedestrian spaces, wayfinding, lighting, parking and circulation. The interns will not only gain insight from each other and practicing professionals but will also provide a fresh perspective to enhancing the future of the Cherry Creek North shopping district. The design charrette concludes on June 7, when the students will embark on a 10-week internship at one of Design Workshop’s seven offices across the United States.
