Master Plan for Turks and Caicos Sporting Club at Ambergris Cay

Turks and Caicos Islands, British West Indies

Client: Dolan Pollak and Schram Development Company, LLC

In  planning  and  designing  a  sporting club at Ambergris Cay, a privately owned island in the British West Indies, Design Workshop took advantage of the island’s treasured  location  while  preserving a fragile environment that has been shaped and  modeled  over  tens  of  thousands  of years.  Uninhabited  at  the  start  of  planning,  the  island  is  dotted  with  ruins  of previous  settlements  that  date  back to the  time  of  the  American  Revolution.

The  master  plan,  which  includes  studies  of  these  artifacts  and  several  unique plant  and  animal  communities,  protects them from the impact of the new development.  Final  build-out  of  the  sporting club  will  feature  an  airstrip  for  private jets,  a  welcome  center,  an  employee  village,  an  operations  compound,  cottage villages,  custom  home  sites  and  amenities, including a member’s lodge, family pavilion, day spa and marina village.
