The Park Avenue Redevelopment Project represents a major step in the redevelopment process for the South Lake Tahoe community. Situated at the edge of an alpine lake of significant beauty and environmental value, the area has historically put little effort into updating amenities and infrastructure. A public/private partnership between the City of South Lake Tahoe, redevelopment agencies and private developers has formed to address the redevelopment. Design Workshop's recommendations for a community plan propose improved accommodations, updated commercial space and public facilities, new gondola access to Heavenly Ski Resort, improved architectural character, and the creation of a pedestrian environment. The plan's reinvestment in the community benefits both the economic and environmental realms of the community.
