Our Summer Internship Program
Since 1985, Design Workshop has hosted a summer internship program for students of LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE, PLANNING, URBAN DESIGN, ARCHITECTURE, BUSINESS, and REAL ESTATE. This provides a great opportunity for us to accomplish some of our most important goals:

  • Introduce students and professionals to our firm and our projects
  • Provide an opportunity for Design Workshop to develop relationships with future graduates for full time positions following graduation
  • Play a role in shaping the education of future professionals in our industry
  • Provide for the cultural exchange of design philosophies and ideas

The internship kicks off on May 30, 2007 with a 10-day intensive charrette in Asheville, North Carolina and is followed by a 10-week paid internship in one of our seven offices. It promises to be a great summer filled with hands-on learning, critical design discussion, and sometimes even a little fun. Find out what previous students said of their experience.

The Internship Charrette
One of the most exciting features of the internship program is the kick-off charrette. This intensive design project will be the latest of our annual charrettes. This year is particularly exciting as the host city is also home to many rich historical landscapes including Frederick Law Olmstead’s greatest residential masterpiece, the Biltmore Estate.

This year, the charrette will focus on creating plans to re-link Asheville with the rivers that are integral to the city’s existence. See the Charrette Details page for more information.
