Glenn Walters, Partner and Principal in charge over 2007 charrette
Glenn has 20 years of experience in creative land planning, landscape architecture, and real-estate development in Georgia, Florida, Hawaii, Arizona, Las Vegas, Pennsylvania, California, Idaho, Oregon and Colorado. His development experience combined with his landscape architecture and planning background enables him particular insight into new community, resort village, and urban design projects. His current interests lie in formulating meaningful design solutions that balance environmental response with place-making and economic considerations. Glenn holds a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from the University of Georgia and received his MLA from Penn State University. He is currently licensed as a landscape architect in the state of Georgia.
Becky Zimmermann, Partner, Denver office
Becky Zimmermann is involved in resort, tourism, community, economic and marketing-related consulting. She is highly recognized for her work with resort communities including visitor services analysis, market definition, positioning and tourism planning; and in urban areas for brownfield redevelopment, development entitlements and real estate economics.
Becky is currently working on the redevelopment of the Gates Rubber Factory for Cherokee Denver, LLC., the Colorado Community College Campus at Lowry and North Lake Tahoe. Becky is a frequent keynote speaker for conferences such as the Union of British Columbia Municipalities Conference on Sustainability, the Resort Forum (focusing on industry trends), the French Quarter (New Orleans) Business Association Annual Meeting, the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Recreation Development Council and ULI forums on transit-oriented development. She is LEED accredited and holds an MBA degree from the University of Colorado and bachelors degrees in Communication and Business Administration from Trinity University, San Antonio, Texas.
Terrall Budge, Principal, Salt Lake City office
Terrall Budge is a shareholder and principal in Design Workshop’s Salt Lake City office. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from Utah State University and a Master of Landscape Architecture with Distinction from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. At Harvard, he was awarded the Jacob Weidenmann Prize for outstanding design talent. Mr. Budge has over 12 years of professional experience and is a registered landscape architect in the State of Utah. He recently led the creation of a redevelopment plan for 20 acres in downtown Ogden, Utah and the master plan for a 1750-acre transit-oriented new community located on the site of the former Geneva Steel plant in Vineyard, Utah. He is a LEED Accredited Professional for the Green Building Rating system sponsored by the U.S. Green Building Council and is a member of the Urban Land Institute and the American Society of Landscape Architects.
Walt Cole, Asheville office
Walt is a registered landscape architect, and joined Design Workshop with over 20 years of experience in design and project implementation, from large-scale master plans to site-specific projects. His career focus has been on built work — including resorts, streetscapes, corporate facilities, new communities and urban revitalization. He has designed and managed such award-winning projects as Phase 1 of Celebration, Florida: Universal Studios Islands of Adventure, Port of Entry; Virginia Beach, Virginia resort revitalization; and the Downtown Dayton Riverscape in Dayton, Ohio. His portfolio includes a number of prominent public and private projects that focus on sustainable design – including LEED certified projects such as the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Satellite Operations Center in Suitland, Maryland (silver rated), the new headquarters for the U.S. Census Bureau (silver rated), and Duke University’s Center for Interdisciplinary and Medical Applied Sciences in Durham, North Carolina.
Ryan Blau, 2007 Charrette Project Manager
Ryan joined the Design Workshop team over five years ago and has been involved in a variety or roles inluding project landscape architect, project manager, and quality management representative. Ryan's critical thinking and creating problem solving abilities allow him to contribute to a wide range of planning and design projects, from detailed residential design to community masterplanning. He has expierience in all phases of design and has spent considerable time on construction sites performing construction observation and administration. Much of Ryan's experience has involved development in sensitive mountain and desert environments. His backgound and intense interest in environmental planning has allowed him to gain an understanding of critical issues involved with development in sensitive environments. Ryan is also involved in the Regional Brownfields Initiative for the local council of governments and searves on the Brownfield Advisory Group’s outreach committee.
Kathy Fry, Human Resources Specialist
Kathy
Fry graduated from the University of Denver with a BA in Sociology
and a minor in Business Administration. Kathy received her Professional
in Human Resources certification in 1999 and was recertified in
2004.
Kathy
began working for Design Workshop in November of 2004. As the Human
Resources Specialist, Kathy is primarily responsible for recruitment
efforts and various other special projects, including the Summer
Internship program. Kathy’s passion lies within retention
efforts and maximizing employee satisfaction levels. Prior to working
for Design Workshop, Kathy served as the Human Resources Generalist
for 7 years at a private health club, spa and sports medicine facility
for 150 employees.
