Introduction
Legacy Design Philosophy
We believe that when environment, economics, art, and community are combined in harmony with the dictates of the land and needs of society, extraordinary places result. These are sustainable places of timeless beauty, substantial value, and enduring quality that lift the spirit. Design Workshop is dedicated to creating these legacy projects for our clients, for society, and for the well-being of our planet.
Our Summer Internship Program
Since 1985, Design Workshop has hosted a summer internship program for students of LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE, PLANNING, URBAN DESIGN, ARCHITECTURE, BUSINESS, FINE ARTS and REAL ESTATE. This provides a great opportunity for us to accomplish some of our most important goals:
- Introduce students and professionals to our firm and our projects
- Provide an opportunity for Design Workshop to develop relationships with future graduates for full time positions following graduation
- Play a role in shaping the education of future professionals in our industry
- Provide for the cultural exchange of design philosophies and ideas
The internship kicks off on May 27, 2008 with a 4-day intensive charrette in Denver, Colorado and is followed by an eleven week paid internship in one of our offices. It promises to be a great summer filled with hands-on learning, critical design discussion, and sometimes even a little fun. Find out what previous students said of their experience.
Denver, Colorado
This year, the charrette will be held at our Denver, Colorado office.
Denver, the mile high city, boasts 300 days of annual sunshine and is situated at the base of the breathtaking Rocky Mountains. From a thriving arts and culture scene, exciting nightlife and abundant outdoor recreation, Denver is one of the fastest growing cities in the United States. Denver is home to a collection of distinctive neighborhoods - small communities filled with locals' favorite cafes, shops and galleries.
Denver also has the largest city park system in America with 200 named parks in the city and 14,000 acres of parks in the nearby mountains. Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Buffalo Bill’s Grave and beautiful Echo Lake at the base of Mount Evans are all Denver parks. There are 850 miles of paved, off-road bike trails in metro Denver – the largest bike path network of any urban area in the nation. Denver has more than 17 miles of kayak chutes along the South Platte River.
We are very proud of our built work that can be found in and around the city and look forward to sharing this amazing metropolis with our selected summer interns!
