“Make sure that
when we change a place, the change agreed upon nurtures our
growth as capable and responsible people, while also protecting
the natural environment, and developing jobs and homes enough
for all.”

DW Legacy DesignSM
We believe that when environment,
economics, art and community are combined in harmony with the
dictates
of the land and needs of society, magical places result–
sustainable places of timeless beauty, significant value and enduring
quality, places that lift the spirit. Design Workshop is dedicated
to creating legacy projects: for our clients, for society and for
the well-being of our planet.
Continuous feedback is the cornerstone of our design
process. We begin projects by studying the landscape’s limitations
and potential. Then we match those qualities to our clients’
needs and to market reality. At every phase we discuss alternatives
with clients and engage the community. These methods are proven
to reconcile diverse and even conflicting priorities and lead to
timely approvals. The same principles result in a grand vision that
leads to long-term stewardship of the land.
Design Workshop has mastered the challenges of planning
and design in the fragile ecosystems of the American West. We view
severe climate, rugged terrain, complex water rights, special- interest
groups, and strict land-use laws as elements that contribute to
creative solutions. Our success at solving problems under extreme
conditions provides us with the experience to address difficult
environments around the world.
