DW Legacy Design® Metrics

DW Legacy Design® insists that our work reflect the critical issues facing the planning and landscape architecture professions and society. Metrics are necessary for achieving our shared Legacy goals and for being accountable to the long-term impact of our design decisions.

Design Workshop has developed a metrics process that insists on the integration of strategies from all four Legacy Design circles from the very beginning of a project in order to comprehensively shape its outcome. The metrics are used as a tool for discovery and accountability throughout the course of the project, enabling assessment at any stage and at the end. All members of the project team – the design team, the client, consultants and stakeholders - are included in the process of establishing goals, determining strategies, researching baselines, and measuring results.

Metrics are not just about measurement. They aid us in identifying the big issues a project must address as well as opportunities for innovation. They are a resource that enables us to be more thorough and thoughtful and accountable in our design process.
