Design Workshop Promotes Six Staff Members in Four of its Offices

10 October 2011

DenverDesign Workshop, an international landscape architecture, land planning and urban design firm with six offices in the U.S. and work spanning the globe, is pleased to announce the promotion of six of its employees. In its Denver office, Mark Feldmann has been promoted to principal and Scott McLean to associate. In the Tahoe office, Stephanie Grisby is now a principal and Micah Langdon an associate. Sara Egan and Philip Koske received new titles as associates, in the Aspen and Austin offices, respectively.

Mark Feldmann, now principal in the Denver office, has been a valuable member of the Design Workshop management team for more than 12 years as the company's Chief Financial Officer. As a member of the management team, his primary responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day accounting functions and working with the firm's shareholders in setting the strategic financial direction of the firm. Feldmann’s responsibilities also include handling many of the corporate and office operational aspects of the company. Feldmann became a certified public accountant after earning a degree from Colorado State University in business administration with an accounting concentration.

Scott McLean, promoted to associate in the Denver office, joined the Design Workshop team in 2007. He contributes his marketing and promotions background to the firm, as well as assists with planning and design projects. A committed team player, McLean has become the firm’s go-to resource for all issues involving InDesign, Photoshop, Cumulus and other technologically advanced programs. McLean received his undergraduate degree in journalism from Kansas State University, going on to develop his career in marketing, public relations and publishing in New York City.

Stephanie Grigsby joined the Design Workshop team in 2000 after earning her Master of Landscape Architecture degree at Utah State University. Grisby has led both large-scale, complex projects as well as detail designs. She has worked on many notable projects, including the South Tahoe Greenway, the Village at Northstar, the LDS Sacramento Temple, Cornerstone Park and the Nevada Department of Transportation’s Landscape and Aesthetics Corridor plan. Her most recognized work on the Corridor plan was instrumental in establishing the department’s renewed approach toward context-sensitive highway planning and design and was touted by then-governor Kenny Guinn as a major accomplishment for the future of Nevada highways. As principal, Grigsby will lead the Lake Tahoe office alongside Steve Noll.

Micah Langdon, now an associate, began his career at Design Workshop’s Lake Tahoe office in 2003, as a landscape architect. Langdon received his undergraduate degree in landscape architecture from Texas A&M. He contributes his talents to a wide range of projects, from transportation corridors, to resorts and high-end residences. He has come to specialize in issues related to transportation projects through his involvement in the Department of Transportation developments in southern Nevada, as well as streetscape, resort and residential projects in the communities of South Lake Tahoe, Mammoth Lakes, June Lake, Lee Vining, Crescent City and Kings Beach.

Now an associate for the Aspen office, Sara Egan has assisted the Design Workshop team for four years. Egan serves as the office’s GIS expert, as well as provides invaluable training in other subject areas. After earning her Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree and a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Illinois, Egan joined the Aspen office to reach her goal of making “the world a safer, healthier and better-functioning place.”

Philip Koske, a newly titled associate, joined the Austin office of Design Workshop in 2009. He has since become an integral leader and connector for the firm, from mentoring younger team members to acting as the communication liaison for the members of the office. He serves as project manager and designer, focusing on landscape architecture and urban design. Koske earned his bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture from Louisiana State University as well as a LA license in Texas.

“We are honored to have so many talented people who are likely to be the future leaders of the firm,” said Becky Zimmermann, President.
