Story Mill Community Park
Design Workshop partnered with The Trust for Public Land to design a 55-acre park next to the historic Story Mill homestead in Bozeman, Montana. At the confluence of Bozeman Creek and the East Gallatin River, the site had a lot of potential, but years of abandonment and decay had left it ecologically bereft. Invasive species were rampant and the rivers needed restoring. The project team worked closely with the community to create a plan that repaired the marshes and reclaimed it as an important cultural and recreational resource. Today the park is a large community gathering space, rich in wildlife habitat and active recreation opportunities. Residents can enjoy miles of trails through wetlands, boulder climbing, outdoor festivals and an awesome playground.
