Leading a study to define a resort’s sustainable future opportunities

As one of the highest-rated mountain resort communities in North America, Whistler is continuously finding ways to improve the visitor experience. When the decision was made to create a sustainability plan, Design Workshop was engaged to lead the first phase. Design Workshop researched and studied resort communities around the word to define the characteristics of successful destination resorts including topics like, land use, environment, social issues, economics, culture, and more. Along with community outreach and vision, the resulting plan led to the development of the entire sustainability plan and recommendation to reorganize the organizational structure of the municipality.
